HUIAKAMA SCHOOL
SchoolDocs a website designed to assist school principals, teachers and board members to ensure that their procedures and policies are; comprehensive, easy to use, up to date and effectively consulted on.
Our school works with SchoolDocs to create a website for our policies and procedures. That site is live and available to our school community.
The school works on a subscription basis with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and align with the National Education and Learning Priorities. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.
The collaborative, online self-review system helps to ensure policies are regularly reviewed and that they comply with New Zealand legislation, ERO and Ministry of Education requirements, and to reflect the outcomes of policy reviews by schools
SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team. Our school board has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.

We have a teaching principal who is usually in the classroom Monday, Tuesday and Friday, though this can vary. If you wish to speak with her, please try to avoid classroom teaching times unless you have an urgent matter. Please contact the office in the first instance if you would like to make an appointment.
If your child/ren needs to be taken from school during the day, you must notify the office in the first instance, or the class teacher.
All visitors must visit the office first and sign the register. Helpers are always welcome, however, may need police vetting if working individually with children. Please talk with our Principal.
